A single cask Ardbeg from Islay, distilled in 2013 and bottled in 2021 after eight years in a second-fill Manzanilla sherry cask. Manzanilla is a dry, light Jerez wine, more fruity than the Pedro Ximenez more often seen at the distillery, so its influence is gentle. The cask, number 272, gave 671 bottles for worldwide release at 60.9%, and was selected by Dr Bill Lumsden.
It is described as oily, with fresh fruit and nuts over an elegant saline bitterness. Walnut, smoked orange, salted butter caramel and hot tarmac build into a herbal blaze.
