Ardbeg Smoketrails Napa Valley Edition is an Islay single malt from the Smoketrails series, in which the distillery's smoky spirit is shaped by wood from wine regions around the world. It comes in a 1 litre bottle at 46% ABV.
This edition is matured in ex-bourbon casks and finished in Cabernet Sauvignon casks from Napa Valley in the United States. It is non-chill-filtered and of natural colour, golden with a slight reddish tinge.
Peat smoke runs through the nose alongside rose, jasmine, smoked plums and mint, while the palate adds vanilla, dark chocolate and espresso. The finish is long and smoky, with a tannic structure from the Cabernet Sauvignon casks.
