Ardbeg Traigh Bhan Batch 5 is the 2023 release of this 19-year-old Islay single malt, matured in Oloroso sherry and ex-bourbon casks. Named after the beach locally known as the Singing Sands, this small batch release was bottled in humid conditions at 46.2%.
Tropical fruit, herbal incense and smoke lead the nose, with menthol, mango, guava and coconut. A creamy palate brings smoked bacon, charcoal, white pepper and clove, edged by wood smoke and sea spray. The long finish adds heather, warm toffee and smoked butter.
