Ardbeg – Uigeadail (75cl, 54.2%)

This is an Islay single malt from Ardbeg, named after Loch Uigeadail, the loch in the hills above the distillery that supplies its peaty water. It is a vatting of different styles of Ardbeg, pairing the distillery's deep smoky character with the sweet, raisined tones of old ex-sherry casks. It is bottled at 54.2% ABV in a 75cl bottle and is non-chill-filtered. The palate is rich and mouth-coating, starting sweet like Christmas cake before winter spice and smoke arrive, with honey-glazed smoked food in the middle. The finish is long, both sweet and dry, with honey, barley sugar, dates, raisins and sherry, then leather and linseed oil.
