Ardnamurchan AD/ The Midgie Batch #2 is a Highland single malt from Scotland's west coast, bottled at 48%. It is a nod to the midge, the Scottish biting insect, and is made from 75% unpeated and 25% peated spirit.
It is matured in 50% ex-bourbon casks, 48% Port barriques and 2% sherry casks. It is bottled with natural colour and without chill-filtering.
The nose is typically described as cooked ham, grilled pineapple, salted prunes and coconut macaroon. On the palate come salt-baked pear, meadowsweet, raisins, cherry and pink peppercorn. The finish is long and dry, with a breath of smoke and Himalayan salt.
