Ardnamurchan – The Midgie Bottled 2025 (70cl, 48%)

The Midgie is a small batch Highland single malt from Ardnamurchan, in a 70cl bottle at 48%. This 2025 edition is the second release, following the first in spring 2024. It is bottled without colouring or chill filtration. It combines the distillery's peated and unpeated spirit, distilled between 2017 and 2019. The casks are bourbon barrels and port casks, a simpler mix than the bourbon barrels and wine casks of the first batch. This run is 16,500 bottles. The nose offers brandy snaps, pancake batter, crystallised ginger, nougat and smoked Manuka honey, with satsuma peel and an extinguished candle. The palate moves to fresh mint, bread and butter pudding and cooked peaches, and the finish is sweet, smoky and lingering, with a bite.
