The Midgie is an Ardnamurchan Highland single malt bottled at 48% ABV, named after the persistent Scottish summer pest.
It is vatted from 50% ex-bourbon casks, 48% port barriques and 2% sherry casks. The spirit is 75% unpeated and 25% peated, balancing fruity and smoky notes.
The nose brings burnt pineapple, prunes dipped in salt, strawberry jam on a salty cracker, almond oil, coconut macaroon and green mint. On the palate there is salt-baked pear, meadowsweet, wild flowers and lemon thyme, followed by raisins, cherry embers, cocoa powder and pink peppercorns.
