Arran Quarter Cask The Bothy is a cask-strength single malt from Lochranza Distillery on the Isle of Arran, bottled at 56.2% in a 70cl bottle. It is non-chill-filtered and of natural colour.
The whisky spends 7 years in first-fill ex-bourbon barrels before moving into American oak quarter casks for a further 2 years. The smaller casks give more contact with the wood and add sweetness, spice and texture.
The nose is apple tart, pineapple brioche, sweet malt and soft vanilla. On the palate, citrus leads before cinnamon, vanilla and oak spice, with honeyed malt and buttery pastry. The finish is long and sweet, with honey, pineapple, vanilla cream and a touch of coconut.
