Athrú Knocknarea 14 Year Old Single Malt Irish Whiskey (70cl, 48%)

Knocknarea is a 14 year old single malt Irish whiskey from Athrú, the second expression released under the name. It takes its name from the mountain to the west of Sligo town, the legendary resting place of Queen Maeve. The whiskey spent 11 years in American oak casks, then a further 3 years in Oloroso sherry casks. It is bottled at 48% in a 70cl bottle. On the nose it offers fresh laundry, pencils, sandalwood and cedar. The palate brings raisins, brown sugar, mince pies and caramel, and the finish is medium in length with pepper and cigar box.
