Baardseth XO Single Cru is a Cognac distilled solely from wines of the Petite Champagne cru, in the centre of the Cognac region. Its clay stone soil is poor for farming but suits wine and cognac making. It is a blend of cognacs aged 10 to 20 years in light-toasted, small-grain French oak, kept in humid cellars at stable temperature.
The colour is amber with copper and golden glints. The nose is powerful and complex, with minerality, prunes, crystallised citrus, blond tobacco and cellar notes, with rancio. The palate echoes this with fruit, minerality and oxidised hints, then light cigar box and spice. The finish is soft, smooth and long.
