Backwoods Red Gum Smoked Single Malt Whisky (70cl)

A single malt from Australia that is smoked with native red gum wood rather than peat. The barley takes on a campfire-style smokiness, described as smoother and slightly sweeter than that of classic peated whisky. It is matured in oak casks, often including Australian fortified wine barrels. The red gum gives a barbecue-like character alongside caramel, vanilla and subtle spice. On the palate it is full-bodied, with dried fruits, toffee and smoked honey, balanced by gentle oak and warming spice. The finish is long and lingering.
