Balcones Eclipse is a Texas rye bottled at cask strength, 64% ABV, in 2022. It comes in a 75cl bottle and is not chill filtered.
It is made from Texas-grown rye, distilled in copper pot stills and matured in new charred American oak barrels in the Texas climate.
The nose is toasted rye bread, dark chocolate, cinnamon bark and burnt caramel, with dried fruits and baking spices. The palate is robust and powerful, with brown sugar, dark chocolate, toasted oak and black pepper, alongside toffee, vanilla and dried dark fruit. The finish is long and warming, with spice, charred oak and cocoa, and a little sweetness at the end.
