Balcones Peated Texas Single Malt is a single malt from the Balcones distillery in Waco, Texas, bottled in 2021 at 59% ABV in a 75cl bottle.
It is made from imported Scottish peated malted barley, double distilled in copper pot stills and aged in new American oak in the Texas climate.
The nose has campfire smoke, maple, candied pecans and dark dried fruit, with leather and tobacco. The palate brings peat smoke with honey, dark chocolate, cinnamon and charred oak, with a rich mouthfeel. The finish is long and warming, with peat, dark caramel, baking spices and a hint of tropical fruit.
