Ballechin 17 Years Old 2005/2023 Burgundy Casks (53.5%)

This is a 17 year old single malt from the Ballechin range made at Edradour, in a small batch of 2,103 bottles. It was distilled in November 2005 and bottled on 5 July 2023 at a cask strength of 53.5% ABV. It is non-chill-filtered and of natural colour. The whisky spent all 17 years in Burgundy wine casks, numbers 327 and 334. The nose is sweet smoke and caramel with ripe dark fruit and subtle oak. The palate is intense and oily, with sweet raisins, cinnamon and plenty of dark fruit, and peat smoke and oak behind. The finish is long, sweet, spicy and smoky.
