Ballechin 19 Year Old 2004/2023 Madeira Casks (53.5%)

This is a peated 19 year old single malt from Ballechin, the smoky malt made at Edradour. It was distilled in April 2004 and bottled on 5 July 2023 at a cask strength of 53.5% ABV. The whisky matured in six former Madeira sweet wine casks, and it is non-chill-filtered and uncoloured. The release is limited to 1,323 bottles worldwide. The nose combines sweet smoke and caramel with ripe dark fruit and subtle oak. The palate is intense and oily, with sweet raisins, cinnamon and plenty of dark fruit, and peat smoke and oak behind. The finish is long, sweet, spicy and smoky.
