Basil Hayden Red Wine Cask Finish is a Kentucky straight bourbon from the James B. Beam Distilling Co. in Clermont, Kentucky, first released in October 2022. It is bottled at 40% (80 proof) in a 75cl bottle.
The bourbon uses Basil Hayden's high rye mash bill of 63% corn, 27% rye and 10% malted barley. It is aged in new charred American oak and partly finished in casks that previously held California red wine.
The colour is toasted brown with amber hues. The nose is sweet vanilla, caramel, dark fruit and toasted oak with a touch of allspice. The palate brings cherry, blackberry and dried fruit alongside vanilla, charred oak and rye spice. The finish is warm and crisp, with lingering oak and sweet fruit.
