Basil Hayden Toast Kentucky Straight Bourbon Whiskey (75cl, 40%)

Basil Hayden Toast is a Kentucky straight bourbon from the Basil Hayden small batch range, made at the James B. Beam Distilling Co. in Clermont and Frankfort and bottled at 40% ABV in a 75cl bottle. Brown rice takes the place of the brand's usual rye in the mashbill, which is 63% corn, 27% brown rice and 10% malted barley. After its first maturation, part of the bourbon is aged again in barrels that are toasted and then flash charred, and it is blended back with brown rice bourbon from number four char barrels. The nose is buttered toast, light brown sugar, caramel toffee, cinnamon and campfire smoke. The palate is creamy, with butterscotch, dark honey and light ginger, and the finish brings toasted oak, vanilla and black pepper.
