Basil Hayden Toast Kentucky Straight Bourbon Whiskey (75cl, 40%)

Basil Hayden Toast is a Kentucky straight bourbon from the Basil Hayden small batch range, made by James B. Beam Distilling Co. and bottled at 80 proof (40%) in a 750ml bottle. Brown rice takes the place of the brand's usual rye, in a mashbill of roughly 63 percent corn, 27 percent brown rice and 10 percent malted barley. Part of the bourbon receives a second maturation in barrels that are toasted gently, then flash charred, and is blended back with brown rice bourbon aged in number four char barrels. The nose brings buttered toast, light brown sugar, caramel toffee, cinnamon and a touch of campfire smoke. The palate is creamy, with butterscotch, dark honey, brown sugar and light ginger, and the finish has toasted oak, vanilla, black pepper and caramel.
