Benromach – 10 Years (70cl, 43%)

Benromach 10 Years is a Speyside single malt from one of the region's smallest distilleries, bottled at 43% in a 70cl bottle. It carries only a light trace of peat smoke, as was usual in traditional Speyside whiskies before the mid-1960s. It matured first in bourbon and sherry casks, then received a finish in Oloroso sherry casks. The nose is creamy and dense, with salty notes, lightly smoked ham, wood and dried fruit. The palate adds apricot and raisins, a slight roughness, then coffee and caramel. The finish is fairly long, with some peat and a hint of smoke.
