Benromach – 21 Year Old (70cl, 43%)

Benromach 21 Year Old is a Speyside single malt from the distillery in Forres, bottled at 43% in a 70cl bottle. It is non-chill-filtered and has no added colour. A small team there has worked since 1998 to revive a fuller Speyside style with a touch of smoke, using Highland peat, distillers and brewers yeast, very long fermentations and only first fill casks kept in traditional dunnage warehouses. For this 21 year old the cask balance is reversed. It shows Seville orange, baked apple, sweetness and spice, and fades slowly with soft smoke.
