Benromach – 40 Year Old (2021 Release) (70cl, 57.1%)

Benromach 40 Year Old is a Speyside single malt Scotch whisky, the first annual batch of this age from the distillery and the oldest expression in the Benromach range. This 2021 release is bottled at a cask strength of 57.1% abv, in a 70cl bottle. The whisky was laid down in 1981 and matured in first fill Oloroso sherry casks, giving a deep amber colour. Only 1,047 bottles were produced. The nose shows rich ginger and stewed orchard fruits. On the palate come Seville orange, red apple and brown sugar, followed by a finish of citrus zest, charred oak and a spicy lift.
