Benromach – 40 Year Old 2021 Release (70cl, 57.1%)

This is the first annual batch of Benromach 40 Year Old, the oldest expression in the distillery's range. It is a Speyside single malt bottled at a cask strength of 57.1%, in a 70cl bottle. The whisky was laid down in 1981 and matured in first fill Oloroso sherry casks, giving a deep amber colour. The release is 1,047 bottles. The nose is rich with ginger and stewed orchard fruits. On the palate come Seville orange, red apple and brown sugar. The finish carries citrus zest, charred oak and a spicy lift.
