This is the 2022 release of Benromach aged 40 years, a Speyside single malt in a 700ml bottle at 57.6% ABV. It was matured in sherry casks.
The 40 year old won Best in Class at the San Francisco World Spirit Competition and went on to be named best overall whisky in the competition.
The nose has cinnamon and ginger spices with Seville orange, stewed red berries and roasted hazelnut. The palate brings Morello cherry, baked apple, liquorice, dark chocolate, fruitcake and a little black pepper. The finish is full, with forest fruits and mature oak.
