A 40 year old Speyside single malt Scotch whisky from Benromach, the 2022 release, bottled at 57.6% in a 70cl bottle. It was matured in sherry casks. Benromach's 40 year old was named Best in Class at the San Francisco World Spirits Competition and then Best in Show.
The nose has cinnamon and ginger spices with Seville orange, then stewed red berries and a hint of roasted hazelnut. The palate is sweet Morello cherry with baked apple and liquorice, then dark chocolate, fruitcake and subtle black pepper. Overall it is full, with forest fruits and mature oak.
