Benromach – Contrasts: High Enzyme 2012/2024 1st Fill Bourbon Barrels (70cl, 46%)

Benromach Contrasts: High Enzyme is a Speyside single malt distilled in 2012 and bottled in 2024, matured in first-fill bourbon barrels. It is bottled at 46% ABV in a 70cl bottle, non-chill-filtered and with no added colour. It is made from unpeated, enzyme-rich barley, the type normally used for grain whisky. The higher enzyme activity affects fermentation and shapes the flavour. The nose is fresh, with lemon sherbet, green apple, barley malt and delicate jasmine. The palate is sweet and creamy, with grapefruit, lemon and lime, then pineapple, honeycomb and a little pepper. The finish is long and refreshing, with toasted oak and a note of mint.
