Big Peat Christmas 2023 is a blended malt from Douglas Laing, the first Big Peat Christmas edition finished in sherry casks. It is bottled at 54.8% ABV in a 70cl bottle. The annual special release aims to capture the flavour of Christmas, with warming spice, rich fruit and a chimney-like smoke.
The nose offers sea salt, black fruit, dark chocolate, candied orange peel and ashy smoke. On the palate come stewed plums, smoked spices, cinder toffee, Christmas cake and oak char. The finish is sweet, sherried and a little tarry.
