Big Peat Feis Ile 2020 A846 (70cl, 46%)

Big Peat A846 is an 8 year old Islay blended malt from Douglas Laing, released for Feis Ile 2020 and bottled at 46% ABV in a 70cl bottle. It honours the A846, the Islay road that takes whisky enthusiasts from one distillery to the next. The label shows Big Peat on his home island. It is bottled without colouring or chill-filtering. The nose opens with peat, smoked ham and a fresh, salty sea note. The palate is full of peat, followed closely by chewed leather, streaky bacon and rock salt. The finish is satisfyingly long, with Madeira cake and more of the smoked ham.
