Big Peat The Green Welly Stop Edition (2017) (70cl, 48%)

Big Peat is a blended Islay malt from Douglas Laing, and this 2017 edition was bottled for the Green Welly Stop. It is a small batch of 290 bottles, bottled at 48% in a 70cl bottle. The blend draws on Islay single malts, including whisky distilled at Ardbeg, Caol Ila, Bowmore and Port Ellen. Smoke runs through it, with minerals and sweet fruit on the nose. The palate is mostly sour and bitter, softened a little by fruit, and the finish is short and ashy.
