Black Gate 3 Year Old Batch 2 (That Boutique-y Whisky Company) (50cl, 46.1%)

A three year old single malt from Black Gate in New South Wales, bottled by That Boutique-y Whisky Company as Batch 2 of its Wine Cask Series. It was matured in former port casks and vatted solera-style, with a good share of older whisky in the mix. The second cask for this batch was bought from distillers Brian and Genise Hollingworth. Bottled at 46.1% in a 50cl bottle, from a numbered run of 345. The label shows Frankie the dachshund chasing emus from the distillery at night. Summer hedgerow blossom, cherry syrup and walnuts in chocolate on the nose give way to fig syrup, juicy plums, cherries and wild strawberries, with pipe tobacco and flamed sugar. The finish is herbal.
