This is an Australian single malt from the Starward Distillery in Melbourne, bottled at 50%, or 100 proof, in a 70cl bottle. It is matured in red wine casks.
Starward takes a brewer's and winemaker's view of whisky and uses ingredients from its own region. Most of its spirit goes into lightly charred or steamed red wine barrels from Australian wineries, and three years there is enough for a fruity maturity. The distillery credits Melbourne's shifting weather, averaging up to 22.5°C, for that.
