This Caol Ila from Islay is a Blackadder Raw Cask bottling at 58.1% ABV. It was distilled on 23 August 2012 and bottled in October 2023 after 11 years of maturation, finished in a sherry butt. It is non-chill-filtered, with no added colouring, and only 150 bottles were filled.
The nose combines Caol Ila's smoke with ash, campfire smoke, sea air, raisins, cocoa, leather and candied fruit. On the palate it is intense and layered, with salty peat smoke, dry sherry, spice and firm oak. The finish is long, powerful and smoky, with a lingering dry sherry note.
