First-fill bourbon barrel
This is an Irish single malt from Blackwater Distillery in West Waterford, made entirely from malted Hunter barley and distilled in November 2021. It spent three years in a single first-fill bourbon barrel before being bottled in February 2025 at 55%, in a 70cl bottle. The barrel gave 283 bottles, and the whisky has no added colour and is not chill-filtered. The nose is soft and fleshy, with stone fruit, lemon souffle, creamy oats, pancake batter and hazelnut, with a little resin behind. On the palate come melon, pear and quince, then yeasty dough and creamy rice pudding, with white chocolate balancing a resinous pine warmth. The finish brings resinous oak spice, malted milk biscuits, a touch of nutmeg and soft vanilla fudge.

About Glenbotal

The idea of Glenbotal came to us naturally: as whisky lovers, we were always on the lookout for new experiences in the whisky world. That’s why we created Glenbotal and became our very own first customers. We buy unique and hard to find spirits from ballots and private collections. Then, we share them with a small circle of friends and people who can appreciate a good dram.
