Bladnoch Alinta is a peated single malt from Scotland's southernmost distillery, in a 70cl bottle. Peat is unusual in a region more often linked with delicate Lowland styles.
It was aged in a combination of first-fill bourbon and new oak casks. The name Alinta means 'fire' or 'flames' in an Aboriginal language.
The nose offers gentle peat smoke, toasted oak, vanilla pod and light honey. On the palate it is smooth and oily, with charred wood, soft toffee and smoked nuts. The finish is lingering and warming, with smoky embers and cracked pepper.
