Bladnoch – Vinaya (70cl, 46.7%)

Bladnoch Vinaya is a single malt Scotch whisky from the Lowland distillery at Bladnoch, which has been working since 1817. The name is a Sanskrit word meaning reverence and gratitude. It is bottled at 46.7% in a 70cl bottle, non-chill-filtered and at natural colour. The whisky is made from ex-bourbon and ex-sherry casks and comes from the distillery's period under owner David Prior, who revived it in 2015. The nose is floral, with honey, green apple, soft vanilla, sweet hay and citrus zest. The palate brings malt, pear and creamy toffee with a little spice from the ex-bourbon casks. The finish is clean and lingering, with vanilla, malt and a touch of pepper.
