Blanton's Single Barrel Black is a Kentucky straight bourbon made by the Buffalo Trace Distillery for the Japanese market, and also known as Takara Black. It comes in a 75cl bottle at 40% ABV.
It is aged for a minimum of 8 years in new charred oak in Warehouse H, the metal-clad warehouse built by Albert B. Blanton.
The nose is creamy, with vanilla, caramel, orange peel, dark chocolate, and hints of florals and rye spice. The palate opens with vanilla, citrus, cherry and apple, then builds oak and rye spice. The finish is long, with oak tannins, fading vanilla and caramel, and rye warmth.
