Colonel E.H. Taylor, Jr. Single Barrel is a bottled-in-bond Kentucky straight bourbon from Buffalo Trace Distillery in Frankfort, bottled at 50% ABV (100 proof) in a 750ml bottle.
It uses Buffalo Trace's Mashbill #1, made up of roughly 75% corn, less than 10% rye and about 15% malted barley. Each barrel is individually selected from Warehouse C, a limestone rickhouse built by Colonel Taylor in 1881.
The nose is lightly toasted oak with dried figs and butterscotch. The palate is soft and honeyed, moving to vanilla, butterscotch, tobacco, charred oak and baking spice. The finish is medium to long, with tobacco and toasted oak giving way to gentle sweetness.
