Blanton’s Single Barrel Red (Takara Red) (75cl, 46.5%)

Blanton’s Single Barrel Red is a Kentucky straight bourbon made for the Japanese market, and sometimes called Takara Red elsewhere. It is bottled at 46.5% in a 75cl bottle and comes in a deep red box. Each bottle comes from a single barrel, aged in new charred oak in Warehouse H at Buffalo Trace Distillery. The bottle has a hangtag and gold wax on the cap, which holds one of eight horse and jockey figurines. The age is not stated, though eight years is commonly believed. The nose is oak, honey, vanilla, butterscotch, cherry and citrus. Toasted caramel and brown sugar lead the palate, and the finish has vanilla, oak, cinnamon and honey.
