Blue Spot is a seven-year-old Irish whisky bottled at cask strength, 58.4% ABV, and sits within the Green Spot family of bottlings. The distillate was made by Mitchell & Son at the Midleton Distillery.
It matured in a combination of bourbon, sherry and Madeira casks.
The nose opens with a sharp, spirity note that gives way after a few minutes to banana, caramel, dried apricot, baked apple and spice. The palate is fresh and round, with pineapple, dark fruit and lime, then freshly ground black pepper and wood. The finish is medium in length, spicy, with a slight bitterness.
