Redbreast 15 Year Old is an Irish single pot still whiskey from the Midleton distillery in County Cork, in the south of Ireland.
The Redbreast name goes back to 1903, when John Jameson & Son agreed to supply new make spirit from its Bow Street distillery to the Gilbeys wine and spirit importers. Such merchants held plenty of empty sherry and port casks, in which the spirit was matured under bond.
On the palate it is full of spice, with nuts, citrus and marzipan and a hint of sherry. The finish is long and creamy, with custard and spice.
