Booker's Batch 2021-02, called the Tagalong Batch, is the second release of the 2021 Booker's small batch series. It is a Kentucky straight bourbon from the Jim Beam distillery, bottled uncut and unfiltered at 63.95% (127.9 proof) after six years and five months of age.
The name refers to a son tagging along with his father through the rickhouse and learning the craft. The barrels came from three production dates and six rackhouse locations at mid to high levels of the warehouse.
The nose has honeysuckle, caramel and earthy wood with cherry and vanilla. The palate opens with vanilla and brown sugar, then roasted peanut, brioche and baking spices, with a thick, creamy texture. The finish is warming, with lingering oak spice.
