Jim Beam Distiller's Masterpiece PX Sherry Cask Finish is a 2013 release of 2,000 bottles in the Distiller's Masterpiece series, which Booker Noe began in 1999. Fred Noe selected extra aged Kentucky straight bourbon of 10 to 12 years from the best rickhouse positions and finished it in Pedro Ximenez sherry casks. It is bottled at 100 proof (50%) and comes in a crystal decanter inside a wooden display case with a Plexiglas front.
The nose brings sherry, dried plum, raisin, fig and baking spice. The palate is syrupy and full bodied, with stewed dark fruit, sticky toffee pudding, marmalade and cocoa. The finish is long, with dried fruit, caramel, oak and a slowly fading black pepper kick.
