Borders WS:01 Malt & Rye is a Scottish whisky from The Borders Distillery in the Scottish Borders, blending malt and rye spirits. It is bottled at 40% ABV in a 70cl bottle.
The malted barley and rye grains are double distilled in copper pot stills, and the spirit is matured in American oak casks that previously held bourbon.
The nose is orchard fruit, vanilla custard and gentle spice with toasted oak and honey. The palate balances sweet malt with warming rye spice, with caramel, cinnamon and baked apple on a creamy texture. The finish is medium-long, with oak spice, dried fruit and a gentle warmth.
