Breckenridge High Proof is a Colorado bourbon from Breckenridge Distillery, bottled at 52.5% ABV in a 750ml bottle. The mashbill is 56% corn, 38% rye and 6% malted barley, and the bourbon is aged for a minimum of three years in charred new American oak barrels.
It is proofed with snowmelt from Quandary Peak, which sits near the distillery in the mountains above Breckenridge.
The nose brings dark caramel, toasted almonds, dried orange peel, mint and vanilla. The palate has butter caramel, almond paste and milk chocolate, with cinnamon, nutmeg, pepper, red apple and fennel. The finish is long, with burnt caramel, dark chocolate, mint, oak and a touch of caraway.
