A 16 year old Islay single malt from Bruichladdich, Cuvée C Margaux is part of The Bordeaux First Growth Series. It is bottled at 46% in a 70cl bottle.
The whisky was aged in French oak from the great Bordeaux chateaux, and the influence of red wine brings a balanced, fruity acidity to the palate.
The nose is soft and floral, with red grapes, peaches, apricots and ripe berries over honey, caramel and toffee, plus a touch of sea breeze. On the palate it is silky, with plum jam, cherries, vanilla and sweet tobacco. The finish is long, with pink pepper, ginger and a light dryness from tannins.
