Bruichladdich 18 Years Old 2nd Edition is the second release of this Islay single malt, matured in the Bruichladdich Lochside warehouse. It continues the sweet wine influence of the first edition. The whisky was distilled in 1990 and bottled on 30 October 2008 at 46% ABV, in a 70cl bottle, without chill filtering or added colour.
It matured in ex-bourbon American oak and was finished in French oak Jurançon casks from Clos Uroulat in the Pyrenees, which had held sweet Petit Manseng wine.
The nose is fruity and spicy, with melon, papaya, passion fruit, berries, honey, vanilla and oak. The palate offers tropical and citrus fruit with raisins, vanilla and sweet malt, and the finish is long and fruity.
