This is a 1965 Bruichladdich single malt, bottled by Gordon & MacPhail at its natural cask strength of 55.2% ABV. It matured for decades in refill casks.
The nose brings antique oak, beeswax and polished furniture with dried mango, apricot and orange peel, then marzipan, vanilla and old leather, with a hint of sea breeze. The palate is velvety and concentrated, with fruitcake, candied citrus, walnut, almond, dark honey and treacle, and touches of cocoa, clove and cigar box. The finish is long and deeply oaked, with wax, citrus oils, dried fruit, tobacco and a last note of salted caramel.
