Bruichladdich 1988 is a 30 year old single malt from the Rare Cask Series, released as 'The Untouchable'. It was distilled in 1988 and matured in refill bourbon and refill squat hogsheads, then bottled in 2019 at 46.2% in a 70cl bottle. The outturn is 6000 bottles.
Vanilla, honeyed malt, soft tropical fruit, old oak and crème brûlée lead the nose. The palate is deep and round, with coconut, ripe mango, baked apple, subtle spices and wood. The finish is long and creamy, with a soft bourbon sweetness.
