A 25 year old Bruichladdich distillery bottling from Islay, distilled in 1990 and bottled on 24 November 2016. It was matured in Pedro Ximénez, Oloroso and French wine casks, and comes at 48.1% in a 70cl bottle, from a release of 6,000 bottles.
The nose opens with blueberries, raspberries and cherries, with subtle pastry notes, roasted almond flakes and a hint of leather. The palate is oily and velvety, with sherry, juicy blood oranges, cherries, nuts and spicy oak. The finish is long, the sweet sherry fruit giving way to dark dried fruit, nuttiness and oak spice, with a subtle bitterness.
