This is a 25 year old unpeated Islay single malt from Bruichladdich, distilled in 1990 and bottled in 2016 at a cask strength of 48.1%. It was released as a limited edition of 6,000 bottles for the Travel Retail market.
The whisky was aged in a combination of Oloroso and Pedro Ximénez sherry casks, with the maturation overseen in collaboration with winemaker Jan Pettersen.
The nose offers dried fruits, dark chocolate and dates, with oak and spice behind. On the palate come sweet raisins, figs and dark molasses, with toffee, nutmeg, cinnamon and a touch of dried apricot. The finish is long and warming, with sherry sweetness, oak spice and a hint of nuttiness.
