Bruichladdich Bere Barley 2012 is a single malt made from Bere barley, regarded as Britain's oldest cultivated cereal strain. The distillery has worked with the University of the Highlands and Islands' Agronomy Institute since 2005 to bring the grain back into whisky production. The barley was grown in the 2011 season, sown in April and harvested in September. The 2012 vintage then matured for over a decade in first-fill ex-bourbon casks. The nose is fruity and floral, with lime, green apple, honeysuckle, vanilla, hay and barley sugar, and a peach note that grows. The palate is firm, with apricot, ripe peach, stewed apple, warm scones and marzipan. The finish is long, with gingerbread, milk chocolate and apricot jam.

About Glenbotal

The idea of Glenbotal came to us naturally: as whisky lovers, we were always on the lookout for new experiences in the whisky world. That’s why we created Glenbotal and became our very own first customers. We buy unique and hard to find spirits from ballots and private collections. Then, we share them with a small circle of friends and people who can appreciate a good dram.
